The judges had high praise for the Caracoli award winning products, saying of the cake: “A beautifully made cake – moist and full of citrus freshness.  Creamy and rich but also light and fresh. Very satisfying and well speckled with pistachios.  A delight.”

Caracoli have submitted products every year since 2008 and including this year the total of awards now stands at seventeen with many Caracoli classics such as Triple ginger cake, Chocolate brownie and Cereal bar scooping stars in previous years.

The judging process is organised by The Guild of Fine food and takes place over several months.  Food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and producers gather at several locations to judge up to 10,000 products – what they are evaluating above all else is taste.  The process is rigorous and the result is a respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.  Award winning foods can then be labelled with the eye catching black and gold Great Taste label, which identifies the product as being especially wonderful tasting.

3-star winners are then re-judged and a Top 50 foods agreed upon as well as the Golden fork trophy winners and the 2016 Supreme Champion with these being announced at a gala dinner in London  on 5th September.
